Corporate Mental Health Challenges

According to World Health Organization (WHO) – 20% of working-age adults were estimated to have a mental disorder. These conditions—primarily depression and anxiety cost the global economy an estimated $1 trillion annually in lost productivity, with 12 billion workdays lost every year.

There are effective actions to prevent mental health risks at work, protect and promote mental health at work, and support workers with mental health conditions.

Risks to mental health at work:

At work, risks to mental health, also called psychosocial risks, may be related to job content or work schedule, specific characteristics of the workplace or opportunities for career development among other things.

Risks to mental health at work can include:

  • Under-use of skills or being under-skilled for work
  • Limited support from colleagues or authoritarian supervision.
  • Discrimination and exclusion
  • Job insecurity inadequate pay, or poor investment in career development
  • Conflicting home/work demands

Mental health is not only the responsibility of a particular worker but of all the stakeholders responsible for the worker’s health and safety can help to improve mental health at work.

YPF Corporate Mental Health programs are designed to take action at work:

Action to address mental health at work will be done with the meaningful involvement of workers and their representatives, and persons with lived experience of mental health conditions.

Dr. Atul Pednekar

Dr. Atul V. Pednekar is a pioneer in the field of yoga psychotherapy. His journey began with joining formal training in yoga 30 years ago. Today, he is a multifaceted expert: a Therapeutic Yoga Consultant (ThYC – AYUSH Certfied), a medical doctor, and a yoga psychotherapist.

He created the module Kriya Yoga Sadhana (KYS) comprising of 4 Quadrants to offer a comprehensive overview of the Indian psychologies of Yoga, Samkhya and Chakras, which form the foundation for yoga psychology and psychotherapy.

His unique blend of expertise provides students with both theoretical knowledge and meditations from these ancient wisdom traditions and their modern applications.
